I may be more than averagely dense, but the American LOVE of abbreviations sometimes drive me nuts. Or can somebody in a quick and simple manner tell me what the CCCC stands for in these conventions?
Update: I found it - Conference on College Composition and Communication. Took me at least 15 minutes to track down.

Well, it's either "Conference on College Composition and Communication" or the "Cookie Cutters Collectors Club."

I love a good acronym as much as the next ABC (American Barbarian Consumer), but it is nice when they make it a little easier to track down the meaning, isn't it?

Ta det helt med ro. Universet overlevde to Torill Mortensen i samme bygd, det kommer nok også til å tåle to T. E. Mortensen. Og jeg er heller ikke venstrehendt. Det utelukker selvsagt ikke at en av oss kan være en Bizarroversjon.

Well, Dennis managed to manouver me elegantly into his masterplan for a panel in Chicago, so if the panel is accepted and I manage to get funding for the trip, yes, Chicago next. But this post was due to an article I am writing on weblog literacies, to be published in January 2006, in a handbook on new media literacy. Needed an example of the venue for edu-bloggers in regular conferences :)
why do you think it is crazy to made acronyms?! In my opinion they are very useful. because in our rapidly evolving world with this large amount of information we are really in need to shorten phrases!to make our communications more easily.....Just Imagine You are sending a S.M.S(it is an acronym either:D).isn't it easier to type CCCCC ?!
Acronyms are not useful at all when you don't understand what they mean. Sometimes you need a little redundancy to communicate, and this is one of those cases where a little more time spent on the sender side would have saved a LOT of time on the receiver side.
Acronyms are somehow professional words.each group of them is used in a different field!for example An ordinary person is not going to understand medical terminology!but does it mean medical words are useless and must be omitted ?!of course not!CCCC for a special group and specific audiences is not only a useful word but also a word full of meanings.and it really doesn't matter an outsider can understand it or not!!!
